Last month, Mohawk proudly hosted its 3rd Annual Truck Driving Championship, bringing together top drivers from across the company to showcase their precision, safety and skill in a series of competitive events.
This year’s competition consisted of a pre-trip inspection, a written exam to test procedural knowledge and a driving course designed to simulate real-world scenarios—including tight turns, backing maneuvers and obstacle navigation. These events reflect the everyday demands our drivers face and highlight the high standards they consistently meet.
“I’ve been around drivers for 30 years, and this is the best group I’ve ever worked with,” said Mitch Chastain, Director of Safety for Supply Chain. “Their professionalism, safety records and work ethic are unmatched. The Truck Driving Championship is our way of honoring that excellence—it’s a showcase of the incredible skills our drivers bring to the road every day.”
This Year’s Champions:
- 1st Place and Best Course Score: Charles Gibson
- 2nd Place and Rookie of the Year: Tim Gunderson
- 3rd Place: Freddy Guerrero
- Best Pre-Trip Score: Bobby Russel
Mitch also gave credit to Tim Langford, Chris Barefield, and the local team for their hard work in organizing the event and selecting top talent from across the company:
“It’s tough to narrow down the best because all of our drivers are exceptional. Tim and Chris did a fantastic job setting up the course and making sure the event truly reflected the skill set our drivers need to keep us the best in the business,” said Mitch.
