Mohawk recently hosted its second annual Truck Driving Championship during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week to celebrate and recognize all the hard work our truck drivers put into ensuring our products are delivered safely and on time.
This year’s Championship consisted of 13 contestants from all the business regions across the US (picked based on skill level, safety score and other key indicators) competing against one another at the corporate campus in Calhoun, Ga. The championship started with a 150-point pre-trip that the drivers had to perform with 15 planted defects. After this, drivers went on to the 300-point course with various obstacles to test their precision driving skills. And don’t worry, the team made sure this year’s course was different from last year’s, so no one had an advantage!
“This year’s event was even better than last year’s,” said Tim Langford, Manager of Safety Training. “I am proud to be able to host this event and spotlight the caliber of drivers that work for Mohawk. I’ve been in the industry for over 34 years, and our drivers are some of the best I’ve seen. I couldn’t be any prouder of all of them.”
This year’s Grand Champion was Matthew Sullivan, with Freddy Guerrero coming in second and Andrew Barbee in third!
