First Annual Truck Driving Championship

This year, Mohawk hosted its first annual Truck Driving Championship during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week to celebrate and recognize all of the hard work our truck drivers put into ensuring our products are delivered safe and on time.

“Last week, we celebrated our drivers across the country. Driver Appreciation Week gives us a time to focus our appreciation, but I want our drivers to know they are appreciated every day of the year. Without them, it would be impossible to deliver the same exceptional experience to our customers. Thank you for what you do today and every day to make Mohawk the best in the business!” said Andy Yearout, Vice President of Transportation and Logistics.

The Truck Driving Championship consisted of 11 all-star drivers, all picked off their samsara safety score, competing against one another at the corporate campus in Calhoun, Ga. The Championship started off with a 100-point pre-trip obstacle that the drivers had to perform with very difficult-to-find preset defects. After this, drivers went onto the 300-point course that consisted of 6 obstacles with tight clearance maneuvers to test their precision driving skills.

Our Grand Champion was Jorge Melendez, with Bryan Carter coming in second and Brandon Mathis in third. All winners received an acrylic tractor-trailer trophy and cash prizes.
