Meet Mohawk’s Newest Driver, 8-Year-Old Parker!

November 29, 2021

When first grader Parker was recognized at school for his manners and positive attitude, he was asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. His response? A Mohawk Truck Driver – just like his Godfather, OTR Driver Donald Pangle.

Donald, who’s been with Mohawk for 27 years, couldn’t help but tell Supervisor of Fleet Operations, Stephanie Dillard about the cute moment that made him proud. And, our Logistics team loves to hear stories like this and encouraging motivated kids like Parker to enter this important line of work, so they wanted to do something special while also recognizing Donald for his great work and positive influence at Mohawk.

The Fleet Operations team and Supply Chain HR came together to plan a short event for Parker to make him an honorary Mohawk Driver, presenting him with official company-issued Mohawk backpack, lunchbox, water bottle, t-shirt, face mask, cup, Mohawk Driver calendars, his own official Mohawk Driver uniform consisting of 2 shirts and a cap, and of course his own diecast Mohawk truck.

“Drivers are an important part of our business, and we are always looking to add the best and most professional drivers to our fleet,” Manager of Fleet Ops and Inbound Transportation Jamie Miller said at the presentation. “We want to make Parker an honorary Mohawk Driver until he is old enough to get his CDL and officially join the team. I wish there were more young people like you, Parker, you are always welcome at Mohawk.”

After the recognition, Parker was able to get a feel for what life as a driver might be like when he got to explore a real Mohawk truck.

“I am grateful that here at Mohawk we have some of the most professional, courteous and safest drivers in the industry,” Sr. Director of Transportation Brian Walraven said. “We appreciate Donald and all the other men and women who keep Mohawk moving.”
