Mohawk’s trucks will now have their own shop to visit for maintenance and repairs.
On October 11, Transportation employees celebrated with a ribbon-cutting and employee luncheon. The new Mohawk Truck Maintenance shop is located on Wall Street in Calhoun, GA.
“Maintaining our assets in-house helps us provide the best possible uptime for the business, and ultimately benefits our customers” said Jeff Wachtel, Vice President of Transportation. “At capacity, by year three, the shop will service 260 trucks, which will be 50 percent of the entire Mohawk fleet in North America.”
The maintenance and repair shop is part of FNA Supply Chain’s strategy to move away from leasing and toward ownership of all transportation assets. The Company began buying tractors in 2016. Mohawk now owns and operates 213 day cabs and 73 sleeper units, which makes up 54 percent of the Mohawk fleet, excluding Dal-Tile. Mohawk has purchased 300 trailers and has another 160 trailers on order.
“This is an excellent example of the Relentless Customer Focus that is transforming our business,” said FNA President Paul De Cock prior to cutting the ribbon.
